About the Author
Professor German obtained his PhD from the University of California at Davis (1975), He is a Fellow of the American Society for Metals and Fellow of American Powder Metallurgy Institute. His awards
include the Tesla Medal, Nanyang Professorship, Japan Institute for Materials Research
Lectureship, Penn State Engineering Society Outstanding Research Award and Premiere
Research Award, Distinguished Research Award from the Japan Society for Powder Metallurgy,
Kuczynski Prize, and Samsonov Prize. He is listed in several Who's Who and serves as an editor
or key reader for more than 20 journals and held several director positions, including two terms
with APMI, and served on the Fellows Awards Committee of two professional societies.
He has supervised 100 theses, published over 960 articles, 25 patents, and 16 books, including Mathematical Relations in Particulate Materials Processing (2008), Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials Processing (2005), Liquid Phase Sintering (1985), Sintering Theory and Practice (1996), and Powder Injection Molding - Design and Applications (2003). He has edited 19 books and co-chaired more than 30 conferences.

Professor German's research and teaching deal with the net-shape fabrication of engineering materials via sintering techniques as used in powder metallurgy, cemented carbides, and ceramics.

Nehemia Gordon holds a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies and a Bachelors Degree in Archaeology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Gordon has worked as a translator on the Dead Sea Scrolls and as a researcher deciphering ancient Hebrew manuscripts. He has been invited to speak in synagogues and churches around the world and has led groups of pilgrims and visitors on tours of biblical sites. A native of Chicago, Nehemia has made his home in Jerusalem, Israel since 1993.

Enlightening

Though I'm not a Jew, I've yet to be disappointed by anything written by Nehemia Gordon. In spite of his vast scholarly knowledge, he writes in a manner that is clear and understandable. Contrary to one of the other reviewers, you DON'T need a background in Hebrew to understand Nehemia Gordon.

This book is full of fascinating information that you never got in Bible class. Once you start reading it, you're not going to want to stop until you've read it all the way through. A "must read" for those who demand to know "What does the Bible REALLY say?"

Nehemiah Gordon has bridged the gap between scholarship and theology. This is a treatise on the Hebrew language using the Hebrew Matthew as the vehicle to explain Hebraic thought. Mr. Gordon is an excellent guide to the Hebrew language. As a Karaite Jew Nehemiah gives a unique perspective on the Hebrew Matthew. If you are interested in the roots of Christianity this is a book and definitely an author for you. Although Nehemiah Gordon's explanations of the scriptures will have you re-evaluating your scriptural paradigm. I would recommend this and the other books authored by Nehemiah Gordon. If you are diligently seeking YHVH then this is a simple yet deep treatise about the name of Yehsuah.

Upper level text with a wide array of countries

This book stands apart from the other comparative pol. books because of its lengthy introductory unit (almost 150 pages in 7 chapters). Some of it is very deep analytical material which is appropriate for very advanced students, but most high school readers will die of confusion if boredom doesn't finish them off first.
For the country chapters, they are very thorough, and each is 40-50 chapters, quite a lot of material. It's pretty dense, too. One good thing is that the book includes the usual "big" ones (G.B., France, Russia, China) as well as Germany and Mexico, but also India, Nigeria, Brazil, and Egypt, giving much material for the often overlooked less-developed countries.

This is a good resource on marketing international schools. It is well written and well organized. Even though each chapter is written by a different practitioner, the organization is similar in each chapter and the book flows well. It is much more readable than some of the other books I reviewed to use as a text for a class that I am teaching.

Now What Indeed

It's very interesting to read this book many years after actually needing it. I definitely fit into the "Know it alls" category back when I graduated college, and I wish I had the perspective offered by Now What?! I'm really glad this is available for young folks who are a little scared coming out of college, so they can see the immense opportunities that will present themselves throughout their lives. You may take a vastly different path in the future, and this book helps you to see beyond your immediate anxiety-filled year-out-of-college.

Interview with Bradley Whitford? Chatting with the creators of "In the Heights" and "PCU"? This must have been an interesting book to research.

This is a great book to help people realize that we're all following one path. Everybody is traveling together from waiters to CEOs. I really appreciated the sections of the book because I could find people like me easily as well as compare to other types of people.

Mr. King seems to have a handle on the feelings and nervousness that come with a graduate's first job hunt and does a good job of conveying them. I wish I'd read this senior year so I could have calmed down and enjoyed the moment a bit more.

I wonder if this is the first in a series, with the next one being about career path changes and life in your 30s.

Not just for grads

Don't let the title fool you, this is a great book filled with tips and lessons learned for anyone, not just recent graduates. I can't go back in time, but if I had read this book at the beginning and end of high school and college, I feel like I would have taken something different away from each person's story and advice. I'm sure when I read this book again in a few years, I'll see it all from a completely different aspect. "Now What?!" is a must read for those who are: thinking of going to college or thinking of not going to college; looking for their first job or looking for your next job; as well as those on the 'other side' (ex. Recruiters, admissions, professors, management, etc.) to remind them of what it was like, working through the system.

About the Author
Pierre Lafontaine was born in Quebec, Canada in 1958. Though he graduated as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist from Mohawk College, he was soon attracted to the world of high performance engine building and began an apprenticeship as an Automotive Machinist. He acquired a machinist certificate of qualification and worked in the field full time for 20 years. Now owner of Air Inlet Systems, he has written the Small Block Chevy ID Guide and editorials in Canadian Classics magazine. He is married to Laura and has 3 children , Samantha, Zackary & Elizabeth.

Updates from previous release limited

Disappointed with limited amount of updates from earlier release. In fairness, a good starting point for 1st interchange book in somone's SBC library - with emphasis on LT1/4s and brief overview of Vortec 96- .

No mention of engine management from previous release beyond CCC 1980-86 (if anyone can remember the precursor to ECM/PCM 87-), brief Vortec specifics, lacks clear distinction & explanation on 87-2001 crankshaft / damper balance (87- use externally balanced flex plate flywheel similar but not the same as the 400), Heavy on dated listings of aftermarket camshafts - but only TRW pistons (TRW alone reveals the era of the majority of information covered in this publication)

Rather cheap paper, and out of focus / poorly reproduced photos, but really nice cover. My first disappointment from MotorBooks which I've purchased fairly consistently since the 1980s. Publishing work needs to be completed.

Good info in this one

This is the perfect book to have tucked under your arm while you look for small block pieces. All the block, crank, head, and cam numbers that fit and don't fit - along with an expert's opinion on each choice. I was able to source everything I needed to build up a mid performance engine without wasting a dime - by carefully selecting components mentioned in this book. This book will not teach you how to assemble a small block - but it will teach you how to pick stock pieces that work together.

This book deals at some length with the question: Since there are many more poor than rich, why don’t the poor just tax the rich heavily and reduce the inequality? In the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, the topic of inequality was discussed widely. Ending or reducing inequality was a prime motivating factor in the emergence of communism and socialism. The book discusses why later in the 20th century, inequality has faded out as an issue. Extensive tables and graphs of data are presented showing the extent of inequality in America, as well as globally. It is shown that a combination of low taxes on capital gains contributed to a series of real estate and stock bubbles that provided great wealth to the top tiers, while real income for average workers stagnated. Improved commercial efficiency due to computers, electronics, the Internet and fast transport allowed production and distribution with fewer workers, just as the advent of electrification, mechanization, production lines, vehicles and trains in the 1920s and 1930s produced the same stagnating effect.

Title misleads and sells a rant about modern tax policies

I find the title extremely misleading.
The first half of the book is dedicated to a rant about modern financial problems.
These problems are well documented and have been thoroughly discussed in modern media.
I didn't buy this book to read about the housing bubble and how low interest rate policies and favorable tax policy encouraged such a bubble. Unfortunately, that is the sum of what this book has to offer.

Not worth reading for anyone who is looking for anything close to a scholarly review of bubbles and busts.

Good for folks that read People magazine and don't have a clue about what happened in the past decade.

I'd recommend a Theory of Money and Credit by Ludvig von Mises for a much better understanding of bubbles and busts.

This book does exactly what the author claims: it provides a thorough explanation of the nature and history of booms, bubbles and busts in financial markets. The first part of the book deals with financial booms and bubbles and how they emerge, develop, and collapse. It traces the history of past bubbles dating back to the 17th Century, and shows the connection and relationship to more recent bubbles, such as the bubbles of the 1720's, the Florida land boom and the stock market of the 1920's, the depression of the 1930's, the S&L scandal of the 1980's, the great bull market of 1982-1995, the crash of 1987, the dot.com mania of 1995-2000, the corporate swindles of the 1990's and 2000's, the sub-prime fiasco of the 2000's, and Japan in the late 20th Century.

It also describes the distribution of wealth in the U.S., inflation, rationality of bankers, monetary and fiscal policy, the role of central banks in promoting bubbles, tax policies that favor the rich, social security, the magnitude and impact of U.S. federal, state and municipal and personal debt, and the subjective valuation of common stocks. One must agree with the author the we have a government of, by, and for the rich.

This is the best book I have ever read on real world economics, bar none.
