MOHAMMAD SHAHIDEHPOUR, PhD, is Bodine Chair Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and Director of the Robert W. While the material presented is impressive and exhaustive, the language is quite substandard and has a large number of typos, not to mention some puzzling selection of words. Lots of editing needs to be done to come up with a new edition.

Great for Generator operator to Transmission operator reading

Hard to find material on power operations. I reviewed the contents and some chapters and found it covered topics relevant to my job as an power generation and substation/transmission operator. When I received the book, which only took a few days to get here, it exceeded my expectations. Most often I've found in other books written at too basic a level, other books too abstract in the electrical engineering maths. This book sort of covers all layers and is extremely well written.

Useful resource for dressing sexy

Why should you buy this e-book?

Two reasons, tied to each other:

1) Looks matter. A lot. And your clothes make up a big part of how you look when you're out and about in your daily life. Having good style is easily one of the most important components of becoming a good-looking and sexy man, as you use it to convey certain (desirable) traits to the world.

2) Tied to reason 1: This book shows exactly how to create sexy outfits ("sexy" as in masculine and attractive). The reason I give 5 stars is because this book manages to do one thing in particular: Navigate through the at times very complicated world of fashion; giving just enough info to create amazing outftis and understand the mechanics behind it, not so much however that the untrained reader gets overwhelmed by unnecessary information.

There are quite a few other very good (e-)books out there on dressing well as a man, but in my opinion Darius' book is the only one that focuses solely on dressing to attract women. Also considering that the price is kind of laughable compared to the benefit the average reader will get out of it, this is a must buy in my opinion. A must-buy for seasoned "players ;)" (noticed the *wink* here), average guys and so-called "nerds", even (and especially) if you're not really interested in fashion and the like, and would much rather just get on with that gorgeous woman over there (who is suddenly a lot more interested in you than before).

I certainly do not regret buying this book. :)

The advice is clear, concise, supported with examples and does not overwhelm the reader with a lot of unnecessary fashion details. Yet, if you follow the advice you are pretty sure to start dressing in a manner that will help you stand out from the crowd :) The book helped me in realizing what was lacking in my current (nice guy) style and how to improve it in the manner that suits my personality and goals. Tour de force in MSK ultrasoun

This book is a tour de force in MSK ultrasound. The authors comprehensively cover this expanding area of a technically driven field. Logically presented with multiple diagrams and images. Easy to read and well referenced. The normal anatomical section prior to pathology presentation prepares the reader for comparision between normal and abnormal imaging. This manual must be considered the gold standard reference. A must for those who have an interest in sono-anatomy, rehabilitaitve ultrasound imaging and through to the Diagnostic ultrasound imaging sonographer or radiologist. Consider this a must for ultrasound imaging

Tras haber jugado m�s de quince a�os como catcher para los New York Yankees, considero que la alimentaci�n es la gasolina del cuerpo humano. Si t� te alimentas mal, l�gicamente el cuerpo no va a responder de la manera que t� quieres. Esto es especialmente evidente en el mundo de los deportistas profesionales como yo; si nosotros no nos cuidamos y no buscamos la manera de alimentarnos bien, no vamos a rendir en una temporada que es s�per larga.

En el tiempo que llevo en el deporte, los ejercicios han cambiado much�simo, porque incluso han cambiado mucho las m�quinas que se usan —los ejercicios se dirigen m�s directamente al m�sculo indicado que est�s entrenando. Antes se usaba m�s el tipo de preparaci�n f�sica llamada bodybuilding que, para nosotros como beisbolistas, obviamente no funciona para nada bien, ya que para jugar b�isbol uno no puede ponerse muy grande porque no va a poder tener esa soltura y esa rapidez tan necesarias para el juego. Lo que hace falta es explosividad y fuerza, y hoy en d�a no se entrena como se hac�a quince o veinte a�os atr�s.

Est�bamos en Miami con mi entrenador ya que, a pesar de jugar en Nueva York, mi familia segu�a viviendo en la capital del sol y por supuesto yo siempre estaba viajando. As� que coincidi� que entrenaba en el mismo gimnasio donde lo hac�a Jos� y varias veces lo vi mientras entrenaba a sus clientes. No pude evitar acercarme a �l para pedirle que comenzara a entrenar a mi esposa Laura. Jos� le dedica mucho tiempo a su gente, y eso es muy importante en un entrenador. �l siempre est� encima de los clientes, buscando que el cuerpo rinda y se vea mejor, y ya que a mi esposa siempre le ha gustado verse y alimentarse bien, consider� que iba a sentirse muy a gusto entrenando con Jos�. Lo que me gusta de c�mo hace las cosas es que incorpora todo el cuerpo en su entrenamiento, y no todo el mundo hace eso. Por eso quise que Laura empezara con �l.

Cuando mi entrenador no puede venir a Miami tambi�n recurro a Jos�, pues para m� lo m�s importante es tener una persona que me empuje, que me aliente. Yo necesito a alguien que est� ah�, que me ayude y me motive a venir al gimnasio, ya que es dif�cil para m�, luego de tantos a�os, levantarme en la ma�ana. Pero si s� que tengo un entrenador que me motiva, me escucha, que es tan profesional y est� esperando por m�, entonces mi compromiso por no quedar mal ser� m�s grande y, por muy cansado que me sienta, yo me levanto de esa cama y voy a entrenar. Eso es exactamente lo que ha hecho Jos�.

INTRODUCCI�N

�Has escuchado la frase: “pareces un disco rayado”? Seguramente s�, pero por si nunca la has escuchado, esto es lo que se les dice a las personas que no se cansan de repetir lo mismo una y otra vez, y si vamos a actualizar el dicho, entonces deber�a ser “un CD rayado”; pero la verdad es que no me importa cu�ntas veces sea yo quien parezca disco o CD rayado hablando de lo mismo. Ahora, como si fuera poco, decid� dejarlo por escrito, porque no me cansar� jam�s de luchar d�a a d�a con este mal que est� afectando a millones de personas en el mundo: el sobrepeso.

Les juro que cuando voy a un restaurante y veo a los padres llenando a sus hijos de refrescos llenos de az�car y comidas grasosas y saladas me provoca ir a su mesa y sentarme a darles una charla completa de nutrici�n mientras el mesero viene a cambiarles todo eso por una ensalada con un pollito a la plancha y una papa asada.

Y esta es solo una de las escenas que a diario vivo, no solo en los restaurantes sino tambi�n en el supermercado, cuando veo esos carritos con la famosa leche “descremada” (skim milk), el yogur “bajo en grasa” (low fat) pero con 15 gramos de az�car, la bandeja de pollo con la piel y as� sucesivamente.

Gracias a Dios cada d�a tengo la oportunidad de comunicarme con m�s personas, pues con el paso de los a�os ha aumentado tambi�n la cantidad de medios que me permiten hacerlo; la radio, la televisi�n, las redes sociales, seminarios, talleres y ahora lo que tanto deseaba, dejarlo plasmado de manera indeleble en este libro.

Reconozco que los muchos mitos acerca de la comida, las dietas, la nutrici�n y todo lo que tenga que ver con la alimentaci�n fomentan que las personas cometan un error tras otro, yendo por la vida repitiendo todo lo que escuchan y probando las mil y una dietas atentando contra su salud. Y es por eso que cuando por fin aparece una persona con los conocimientos adecuados, ya est�n tan cansadas con la mala informaci�n, que ponen en duda lo que se les dice. Por supuesto hay much�simos expertos que, al igual que yo, siguen buscando maneras muy creativas para hacerle entender a la poblaci�n lo que sucede cuando no se alimenta de la manera correcta, y eso renueva mis esperanzas.

Con las personas m�s allegadas a m� es con las que m�s sufro, pues siendo ellos parte de mi familia no los he podido ayudar. Y lo digo con toda honestidad para que vean hasta qu� punto llega este problema, y que el asunto aqu� no se trata de herencia, gen�tica, parentesco o cualquier otra excusa que quieran sacar. Aqu� se trata de querer hacerlo, de tomar conciencia de que nos estamos enfermando, de que el sobrepeso equivale a menos a�os de vida, de quitarnos de la cabeza esa idea err�nea de que cuando nos hablan de sobrepeso lo relacionamos con obesidad m�rbida, porque no estamos informados, porque no conocemos otra cosa, porque a�n creemos que el ni�o gordito es el ni�o saludable, porque a�n queremos perder peso “dejando de comer en la noche” o “dejando de comer harinas” o simplemente “dejando de comer”.

Por todas las frustraciones que sufro d�a a d�a escuchando y viendo cosas absurdas referentes a la nutrici�n es que decid� escribir este libro. Quer�a juntar, en lo posible, la mayor�a de las experiencias que vivo a diario contestando preguntas y aclarando dudas, y en muchas oportunidades qued�ndome mudo cuando uno de mis clientes viene a m� buscando ayuda para perder 40–50 libras de grasa pero me “advierte” que “mucho cuidado con quitarle su bananito con leche, porque todos los d�as antes de irse a dormir no le puede faltar esta sana costumbre”. Para darles una idea, la banana, banano, pl�tano o guineo (como le dicen en diferentes pa�ses) es la fruta que m�s az�car tiene. Si a eso le sumamos el “vasito de leche”, que tiene alrededor de 15 gramos de az�car, en una sola sentada, esa persona est� ingiriendo la cantidad de az�car equivalente a lo que deber�a consumir en tres d�as aproximadamente, teniendo en cuenta que nuestro organismo necesita 25 gramos de az�car al d�a.

Como ven, esto y mucho m�s es lo que compartir� con ustedes aqu� con la esperanza, entre otras cosas, de que esa parte de mi familia a la cual me refiero sepa lo mucho que me importa y lo triste que me pone que ellos a�n no entren en ese grupo que decidi� abrirme las puertas cuando llego con la intenci�n de seguir SALVANDO VIDAS.

CAP�TULO 1

TAMBI�N FUI GORDITO

Curiosamente la mayor�a de las personas que llegan a m� buscando ayuda para superar su problema de sobrepeso tiene a alguien (o algo) a quien culpar por su situaci�n… compa�eros de trabajo, novio, esposa, falta de tiempo, horarios, etc., pero uno de los que m�s me llama la atenci�n y me da pie para comenzar esta historia es la famosa “herencia familiar”.

�Me van a decir a m� que tienen sobrepeso porque sus padres lo han tenido siempre? Y qu� tal la t�a, la prima o incluso la bisabuela a la que nunca conocieron pero han visto fotos y entonces se dieron cuenta de que si la pobre anciana que abandon� este mundo hace dos d�cadas nunca estuvo en forma, �ustedes tampoco lo estar�n!

�Ja! Eso se lo pueden decir a cualquiera, pero no a m�. �Y saben por qu�? Porque yo nac� pesando 12,5 libras; no muchas personas nacen con ese peso. No soy el entrenador t�pico que viene de una familia s�per saludable y que pr�cticamente fue educado para llevar una vida de buena nutrici�n y ejercicio. La familia que yo form� es as�, pero mi mam� es diab�tica y junto con mis abuelos, tiene un sobrepeso enorme, �y mi t�a pesa 350 libras! As� que, como ver�n, no hab�a razones para que yo fuera una persona delgada y bien formada, pues en mi familia nadie lo era.

Ten�a muchos h�bitos alimenticios malos que aprend� desde que era ni�o, como le pasa a la mayor�a de las personas que quieren bajar de peso. Por ejemplo, antes de acostarme siempre com�a helado. Ese fue un h�bito tan dif�cil de romper que hasta el d�a de hoy, mi batido de prote�na en la noche lo hago con mucho hielo y me lo como con una cuchara para que mi cuerpo piense que es helado. �Llevo dieciocho a�os haciendo esto!

Mi desayuno consist�a de huevos fritos cocinados en mucho aceite con tocino y papas; luego com�a pollo y mofongo frito con carne de cerdo, as� que tuve sobrepeso no solo por la gen�tica, sino por la manera en que me ense�aron a comer, pues pese a que nac� pesando tantas libras, pude haberme “normalizado” si en casa las costumbres hubiesen sido diferentes, pero no fue as�.

No fue hasta que comenc� a darme cuenta de lo mucho que me estaba afectando mi peso, que tom� la decisi�n de cambiar mi vida. Pero eso sucedi� a medida que iban pasando episodios no muy agradables y que hoy recuerdo y puedo compartir con ustedes de una manera jocosa y hasta divertida, pero que en su momento causaron dolor, baja autoestima y mucha tristeza.

Una de ellas fue en Puerto Rico cuando estaba en el jard�n de infantes. Ten�a cinco a�os. Llevaron unos caballos a la escuela para que los ni�os los mont�ramos, recuerdo que eran peque�os ponis. Obviamente, todos est�bamos enloquecidos por subirnos a los animales, pero cuando lleg� mi turno, el profesor dijo enfrente de todos: “Que ese gordito no se suba porque le va a romper la espalda al caballo”. �Ja! Lo que hizo fue romperme el coraz�n y dejarme con las ganas de romperle la cara al maestro, pero tengo que reconocer que eso fue sumando para que m�s adelante se produjera el gran cambio… (me siento como Betty la fea). Algo que me ense�aron en la escuela es que la gen�tica podr�a ser la causa del sobrepeso de una persona, y no discuto que eso sea as�. Pero lo que s� puedo asegurar sin temor a equivocarme es que, si bien t� no tienes el control de tu pasado, s� tienes el de tu presente y eso es precisamente lo que quiero que hagas a partir de este momento. No te quedes sentado sin hacer nada porque todos tus problemas nutricionales vienen del pasado y como “vengo de una familia con sobrepeso, no vale la pena esforzarme, pues eso no lo cambia nadie”. Te tengo noticias: �eso lo cambiar�s t�! Y precisamente en los pr�ximos cap�tulos veremos c�mo hacerlo.

Siempre he sido muy bueno para las matem�ticas, y es ir�nico, pues cuando joven nunca aprend� el resultado de la siguiente operaci�n: huevos fritos al desayuno + mofongo con carne frita al almuerzo + pollo frito con arroz con gandules y tostones a la cena = �OBESIDAD!

Lo que me hizo cambiar

De todas formas, gracias a mi talento para las matem�ticas, gan� medallas de alto honor en la escuela, as� que estudi� Ingenier�a, lo que me permiti� trabajar en una compa��a de muebles de aluminio en Miami. Comenc� de asistente de ingeniero y termin� siendo el ingeniero de la compa��a con solo veinti�n a�os; estar tantas horas en una empresa haciendo “trabajos de oficina” me hizo reaccionar y seguir en la b�squeda de lo que hoy hago y que es mi mayor satisfacci�n.

Resulta que por esos d�as, una vez salimos a patinar, me quit� la camisa y Juli�n, uno de mis amigos, me dijo: “Oye, Jos�, ponte la camisa de nuevo, �ve qu� gordo est�s!”. Me dio tanta bronca su comentario, pero he de reconocer que ten�a raz�n. Mi cuerpo era amorfo, todo estaba al rev�s: ten�a la barriga muy grande y salida y el pecho hundido. Me sent� tan mal que mi amigo lo not�, y me dijo despu�s: “No te preocupes, estoy yendo a un gimnasio, yo te pago el primer mes”. As� de gordo estar�a para que mi amigo se ofreciera a pagarme el gimnasio.

Le tom� la palabra. Recuerdo que llegu� al gimnasio con la idea clara de que lo del entrenamiento y yo iba a ser un “romance” de muy corta duraci�n, pues as� me lo hab�a advertido mi amigo Juli�n, quien me asegur� que todos llegaban muy entusiasmados el primer mes pero despu�s cuando llegaban al segundo… �pero no fue as�! Me di cuenta de que cada d�a esto me gustaba y lo disfrutaba m�s. Y para mi gran sorpresa, �saben qui�n result� ser el “desertor”? �S�, mi amigo Juli�n! Pero gracias a �l, mi problema m�s grande ya no era quitarme la camisa.

Fue tanto mi entusiasmo que me prepar� y me certifiqu� como entrenador (con la National Strength and Conditioning Association y con la International Sports Sciences Association) y como nutricionista (con la International Fitness Association). Dos a�os m�s tarde yo era el due�o de la compa��a de entrenadores en ese gimnasio. Pero cuando empec� a estudiar, lo hice para ver si pod�a tener buenos resultados conmigo. Si lo lograba, entonces podr�a entrenar y ayudar a los otros que en ese momento eran como yo.

En aquel momento fui yo el protagonista de ese cambio, pero ahora como entrenador personal y nutricionista he tenido el privilegio de ser testigo de historias impactantes en otras personas; ahora mismo recuerdo mi primera clienta en quien pude observar un cambio dram�tico. Era una se�ora de cincuenta y ocho a�os que tardaba mucho en entrar por la puerta del gimnasio porque ten�a artritis y diabetes y sus movimientos eran muy lentos. Pr�cticamente no pod�a hacer nada en casa, ni siquiera so�ar con hacerse cargo de su jard�n, que tanto le gustaba. Le dise�� su r�gimen alimenticio basado en lo que necesitaba, empez� a hacer ejercicio con gran disciplina �y perdi� 40 libras en solo unos meses! Recuerdo que ella estaba tomando un mont�n de pastillas cuando vino a verme; se las hab�a recetado su m�dico para controlar el az�car y el colesterol, y para el dolor de huesos. Despu�s de seguir la dieta y de no faltar al gimnasio, adem�s de ver el milagro en su cuerpo, su mismo m�dico le retir� los medicamentos porque simplemente ya no los necesitaba. Pero este es apenas el comienzo de un mont�n de testimonios que te contar� y que me llena de emoci�n poder compartir contigo; s� que ser�n tan inspiradores como lo son para m�.

Mi cambio alcanz� otro nivel

Pero los retos no pararon ah�. En 2000 lleg� un punto en el que quise probarle a varias personas que estaban en esto que pod�a llegar a competir en pruebas de fisicoculturismo sin recurrir a las drogas, como lo hacen muchos.

Como no conoc�a el ambiente, me inform� y averig�� que hab�a dos tipos de competencia: aquellas en las que te descalifican si usas alg�n tipo de esteroide o droga prohibidos, y otras en las cuales puedes consumir de todo para que tus m�sculos crezcan. Ni se imaginan los cuerpos exagerados que se ven en la segunda categor�a durante las competencias.

Para m�, si pod�a llegar a lucir de manera similar a una persona que usa drogas para desarrollar su cuerpo, ya habr�a ganado sin necesidad de llevarme el primer lugar de la competencia. Cual ser�a mi sorpresa (y seguro que la de los dem�s competidores) que obtuve el primer lugar en el concurso Diamond Classic.

Para aquellos que no lo conocen, en este certamen se supone que empiezas en el primer nivel (que es el de principiante) y de ah� vas subiendo hasta el quinto, �y yo gan� el quinto nivel en mi primer intento! As� que esa fue mi prueba inicial para ver c�mo eran las competencias. Declin� competir para la siguiente categor�a porque mi objetivo ya estaba cumplido.

Recuerdo que antes de eso yo llegu� a pesar 212 libras, �y baj� a 151 en solo doce semanas! Aunque mis resultados fueron espectaculares, admito que me entren� de m�s porque era la primer vez que lo hac�a. Pero finalmente, lo hab�a logrado: vi los resultados en mi cuerpo gracias a la dedicaci�n y al esfuerzo. S�, “dedicaci�n y esfuerzo”, �y mucho! Hasta de recordarlo me da mareo, pero les voy a contar con lujo de detalles lo que tuve que hacer para prepararme, y aquellos que dicen que no pueden alimentarse bien por “no tener tiempo” me dir�n si aqu� el asunto es falta de tiempo o de ganas.

Me levantaba a las 4 a.m. para preparar toda la comida que iba a consumir en el d�a, pues a las 5:30 a.m. ya estaba haciendo mi primera hora de ejercicio cardiovascular (habr� algunos que ya tendr�n sue�o de solo imaginarlo, �verdad?). Desde las 6:30 a.m. hasta las 9:30 a.m. ten�a que entrenar a mis clientes para luego entrenar de nuevo yo hasta las 11:00 a.m. (ahora con pesas), pues a esa hora llegaba “Big Andre” quien era el encargado de ense�arme a posar en la competencia (s�, claro, es que la cosa era con pose y todo, pero �qu� cre�as?). Para las damas que siguieron Sex and the City les digo que este Mr. Big no era ni la sombra del de Carrie, excepto por lo de “big”. Y es que Big Andre es un hombre con una musculatura incre�ble, pero muy poco rom�ntico y no tiene un chofer que lo lleva por todo Nueva York. Big Andre es mi mentor, un entrenador personal que ha ganado incontables competencias de fisicoculturismo, y actualmente es quien les ense�a la rutina a los competidores en esta disciplina para que hagan sus poses en la tarima.

Ya a las 12 p.m. ven�a el ensayo de la rutina, que consist�a en una coreograf�a en la que mov�a los m�sculos al ritmo de la m�sica (�no me digas que lo est�s intentando ahora mismo mientras lees!). Terminando mi momento “John Travolta” ya era hora de regresar al trabajo y seguir entonces entrenando a mis clientes hasta las 8 p.m., para luego hacer una hora m�s de ejercicio cardiovascular hasta las 9:30 p.m. S�, este era un d�a “normal” en mi vida durante catorce semanas. El final ya lo saben pero tengo que mencionar que hubo varios desmayos mientras pintaban mi cuerpo con prot�n (es un producto especial que usan en estas competencias para que ayude a destacar tus m�sculos y no se opaquen con las luces). �Ah! Pero no creas que los desmayos eran porque el producto ten�a mal olor o algo as�, sino porque el cansancio se apoder� de m�, la presi�n, el stress, el miedo, los nervios, �sigo? Okey: la tristeza tan grande que sent� cuando en una de las pruebas previas baj� bien emocionado a buscar a mi gente entre el p�blico para ver si hab�an ido a apoyarme pero, qu� va, en ese momento, no s� si fue por los nervios, pero no vi a nadie. Fue ah� que descubr� c�mo se siente el llanero… �solitario! (qu� dram�tico). Los �nimos volvieron a m� cuando, una hora despu�s, llamaron mi nombre para salir al escenario y pude escuchar las porras y los gritos (con todo tipo de malas palabras) de mis mejores amigos y algunos clientes que no pod�an perderse el resultado final de tanto esfuerzo, pues cada uno de ellos tuvo que soportar un pedacito de mi mal humor, cansancio, desesperaci�n por comer algo “normal” y m�s. Fue tanto lo que exager� entrenando que algunas personas llegaron a pensar que estaba enfermo, y no se equivocaban. Estaba enferm�ndome, pero de la cabeza, a tal punto que me sentaba en una pizzer�a que estaba al lado del gimnasio solamente para disfrutar del olor. �Qu� tal? Ah, hablando de “olor”, �recuerdas la pintura (prot�n) que te mencion�? Pues bien, el evento fue un s�bado, y para obtener mejores resultados con la apariencia yo comenc� el proceso de pintarme desde el mi�rcoles. S�, yo s�, �qu� asco!

Una vez que comenc� a entrenar gente por los resultados que logr� en m�, ya no lo dej�. Me sent�a tan bien con mi figura, pero sobre todo con mi salud y con la satisfacci�n de ayudar a las personas que lo necesitaban, que decid� que esa era la forma en la que quer�a vivir.

Mi inicio en los medios

Afortunadamente, despu�s de ver los resultados de mis primeros clientes, muchos otros empezaron a llegar, incluso muchas cl�nicas para perder peso me mandaron a sus pacientes. Total que mi n�mero de clientes sobrepas� mis l�mites de horario. Eso me hizo preguntarme cu�ntas personas pod�a entrenar al d�a. Como el d�a tiene solo 24 horas (igual que el de Jack Bauer), me di cuenta de que si quer�a ayudar a m�s gente ten�a que hacerlo de una manera que sobrepasara las fronteras del gimnasio en el que trabajaba, y la �nica soluci�n eran los medios de comunicaci�n.

El primer medio para el que trabaj� fue Men’s Health en Espa�ol. Recuerdo que empezamos haciendo un art�culo de ejercicios con bandas, �pero yo sal�a de modelo! La muchacha que coordin� la sesi�n y el mismo fot�grafo me pidieron que los entrenara, y as� lo hice. A ra�z de eso Juan Antonio Sempere, en ese entonces editor de la revista, me ofreci� hacer la columna “Preg�ntale al entrenador” en la que yo le resolv�a sus dudas de entrenamiento a los lectores de la revista, que llegaba a toda Hispanoam�rica.

Mucha expectativa

Compre el libro por la gran expectativa en redes sociales y en medios como tv. Coloco 3 estrellas, porque quede con muchas dudas, pens� que iba a encontrar m�s tips que me ayudaran a controlar la ansiedad, a mantenerme en forma, a no pecar en momentos en que el hambre ataca. Espero una segunda parte para complementar el primero, tambi�n espero que esta segunda parte no tenga tantos testimonios de gente famosa, sino de gente normal, gente quien debe preparar sus alimentos, comer en la calle si el tiempo no deja, no tiene como pagar un gym, no cuenta con recursos para comprar una prote�na de 44 d�lares y sin embargo, logran cambios con perseverancia y sacrificio.

No dice nada nuevo y solo esta lleno de paja de "relleno". Solo dedica un par de paginas a una semana del plan que propone y dos recetas para desayuno, comida y cena. No tires tu dinero. No explica nada de como, por que o como funciona y lo mas importante: como seguir el plan. No hay una tabla, un diagrama, o follow up. Te quiere vender el tiempo de un entrenador si quieres tener el cuerpo de uno de sus "clientes".
Hay mas informacion en sus programas de radio y TV. Buscalo en youtube y ahorrate $10.00

Es un libro completo.

El libro me ha educado mucho acerca de la manera en que debo comer y nutrirme al mismo tiempo. Estoy aprendiendo mucho y ya he perdido 5 libras en dos semanas. Me siento mucho mas liviana y estoy muy contenta.
Recomiendo este libro.

Review: Virtue 2: Sweetest Venom

Sweetest Venom by Mia Asher is the second and final book in her Virtue series. This picks up with the cliffhanger from book one, Easy Virtue and rolls right through your expectations and pre-conceived notions. In this book we get a little more perspective as a select few chapters were told from Ronan and Lawrence's POV's. It was painful and enlightening. This duology is a journey. One that each reader must make on their own. I highly recommend avoiding any spoilers about where this book goes but to each their own. I will not provide any spoilers in this review.

This book seemed to speed along there at the very end, everything happened so fast. I was a little surprised by how fast but I'm appreciating the journey it took to get there and I think that was the author's goal. The journey not the destination. Some stories take you far past the happy ever after moment when you *could* envision them walking off into the sunset and that's great but sometimes it is perfectly ok to end it at the HEA moment and leave the rest up to your own imagination (OR ANOTHER BOOK hint hint). This second book was wholeheartedly about the journey. Not just Blaire's but also Ronan and Lawrence's journey through the mess they made in book one.

Long story short ... I absolutely adored this book.

It made me cry in places and I'm either getting soft or just finding books the past month or so that make me cry because I don't cry at books, rarely hardly ever and it's been nearly all the past few I've read.

Heartbreaking

Another roller coaster of emotions with Sweetest Venom. I screamed, I cried, my heart tore in a millions pieces, I smiled a little, I cried more...this is an intense love triangle story. But it is amazing. You love Blaire, you hate Blaire, you sympathize with Blaire, you wanna punch Blaire...in this book, your heart breaks for Law & Ronan...2 men falling for 1 woman and she loves them both in her twisted way, yet she can't stop hurting both of them. I know it sounds terrible, but honestly, this book is amazing. Even though it did not give me the ending I wanted, personally, it was an incredible journey that I wish I could take again.

Revenge and love

This book has so many good twists and turns that made me anticipate what's going to happen next. So much heartache was felt in this book along with guessing will it be a happily ever after at the end. Blaire had a hard time changing who and what she is but with her perseverance, eventually gained what she wants in her life. Did we really know what the definition of love is? I think if two people are meant for each other, they will create their own definition of love despite of all the obstacles that they have to face in their lives.

They gave me full personal credit for every Soviet victory. My rent was mid for a week ahead. Yet I left the house that night without a word of final farewell. I merely said that if my trip should keep me out of town beyond Tuesday, they had my permission to let the room. I wanted my hosts to be honestly ignorant of my whereabouts and of my intention not to return, should there be any inquiries from the Soviet Pur chasing Commission. For several days, at the Commission offices, I had simulated headaches and general indisposition. Casually 1 had remarked that morning to a few colleagues that I had better remain home for a rest that I might iiot come in on Monday. I was playing hard for an extra day of grace before my absence would be discovered. After collecting my March salary-I insisted on straightening out my expense vouchers for the last trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the trip to Chicago before that. It appeared that about thirty dollars were still due to me. The idea was to erase the slightest excuse for any charges of financial irregularity to explain my flight. I also made sure that all my papers were in perfect order, so that others could take up the work where I had left off. Later, when the news of my getaway was on the front pages of the Washington and New York papers, some of the men and women at the Commission must have recalled a peculiar warmth in my talks with them thai Saturday, a special pressure in my handclasp when I said So long. About the Author
Roger Penrose, one the world's foremost theoretical physicists, has won numerous prizes, including the Albert Einstein Medal, for his fundamental contributions to general relativity and cosmology. He is the bestselling author, with Stephen Hawking, of "The Nature of Space and Time" (Princeton). Penrose's other books include "Cycles of Time: An Extraordinary New View of the Universe" and "The Road to Reality: A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe" (both Vintage). He is the Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics Emeritus at the University of Oxford and lives in Oxford, England.

Detailed and long but iteresting

Quite detailed papers about various topics related to quantum physics; some of them describe connections with the metaphysical and paranormal phenomena from a scientific standpoint and most include descriptions of relationships with consciousness. There's a lot of mind-blowing stuff in these papers about time and how quantum physics necessarily means there can be future events affecting the present and the past and the observer's role in time perspectives, etc. I certainly did not understand everything but I did read it all and many of the scientific explanations are intriguing. There are conflicting theories and many present redundant views; one very lengthy paper was admittedly quite circuitous and the author kept repeating himself, which could have been edited down to a much shorter version. This book is a collection by numerous authors, who all present numerous references.I would not classify this as light reading and many readers may not enjoy this sort of book. It was obviously written for other than the layperson so be prepared to not understand a lot of this if you are not a not a classical physicist but I don't think you have to understand all the physics completely in order to enjoy the implications of many of the theories. Maybe some of this actually narrows the span between the individual and the cosmos, between the metaphysical and the scientific, between the material and the spiritual. Maybe, if even some of this is true, we might, in fact, be connected to everything else, to something larger than ourselves, and maybe there is somewhere to be found the elusive theory of everything that Einstein and others have quested for for so long.

Interesting but potentially confusing

Adding to the commendable review here, "Detailed and long but interesting", I would note that the terminology in the 30 separate papers is not entirely consistent, which adds to any confusion about the different viewpoints and arguments expressed. It is unfortunate that some final chapter was not assembled by a few of the most prominent authors, including in particular Roger Penrose, to integrate and summarize the principal points of consensus.

This is a really good book which explains a lot about consciousness and quantum physics. I received this book as a gift and it is fascinating. Its divided into different sections on different topics. It begins with two chapters written by Deepak Chopra and his colleagues, and they give a great overview of his philosophy about the spooky world of quantum physics. The chapters that follow are really good and describe how consciousness, the act of observing can change reality, and how consciousness might be linked to the universe; the cosmology of consciousness. The next Section goes into evolution of consciousness and the brain, and there are chapters about cave paintings from the Paleolithic and how the cave paintings represent the constellations and the stars of the universe. Roger Penrose explains how the brain acts like a quantum computer and is plugged into the universe. There are also really interesting chapters which explain how different areas of the brain are linked to different types of consciousness. The really spooky stuff is how time might be a circle where the future can effect the present, through entanglement, where everything is connected. There are several fascinating chapters about paranormal experiences and the connections to multiple universe and parallel universes. The second half of the book is more difficult that the first, but its worth the read. I think, if you want to understanding consciousness, and quantum physics, this is probably the best book out there.
